2021 – Over the years Tierraselva and the Central Huallaga Riverkeepers have attended a broad range of conferences, events, and meetings allowing the team to engage with different stakeholders, create interesting networks and share lessons learned. Some of the participatory highlights have included Waterkeeper Conferences in New York, Cartagena, Baja California, Chicago, and Georgia. Here more than a 189 grass-roots organizations within 6 continents gather from all walks of life representing fisherman, lawyers, celebrities, politicians, Indigenous and Aboriginal groups, technical experts, and ordinary concerned citizens. All are active at the grass roots level building strong communities, creating opportunities for participation and form a large international alliance. The Alliance is headed up by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. both Founder and Chairman, who references the law as key to ensuring that water rights are protected, and water laws are enforced.
Belonging to a greater networking alliance has come with opportunities that have seen improved advocacy, monitoring and evaluation of the Huallaga and its tributaries, as well as stronger partnerships and programming. Here are some highlights of our ongoing relationship building with our global family.
