Welcome to tierra selva’s youth eco warriors site and blog. We are a team of young people who are concerned about our local and regional environment, communities and climate change. Over the years we have been actively engaged in advocating for a clean and green selva. We have set about creating awareness and building capacity with youth and children from kindergarten to secondary. Since 2009 we have been working on reforestation projects and water conservation with our sister program the Huallaga Riverkeepers.
The eco warriors program has been working on a host of different activities over the years which date as early as 2008.

2008 to 2011 Endemic Reforestation Project. Developed a Tree Nursery to support the Huallaga River. The aim of this project created new habit corridors, for improved climate resilience by providing shade and dissipating river energy that causes soil erosion and flood damage. Tree planting can also block water runoff creating barriers around the river, reducing water loss. This youth focused program also focused on composting and vegetable gardening. this program saw the planting of some 500 trees along the riverbank, with all trees coming from seedlings.
Our eco warriors have been involved in a broad range of activities that have included elder visits to learn about traditional plants, legends and stories. They have also been engaged in activism activities, wild life rescue and exploring the cultural and natural heritage of the region documenting and sharing new found knowledge.
